Design Engineer

 
 

General Expectations: 

In the performance of their respective tasks and duties CvI Design Engineers are expected to: 

  • Design products and projects in SOLIDWORKS, managing all files in the PDM vault. 
  • Interact respectfully and professionally with colleagues, customers, and suppliers. 
  • Work independently while communicating and coordinating effectively across functions. 
  • Support the Director of Engineering’s objectives. 

Responsibilities / Duties / Functions / Tasks 

  • Generate conceptual drawings based on input from team coordination meetings or management. 
  • Create shop drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.5-2018 (GD&T). 
  • Apply design principles that meet applicable codes and standards—including, but not limited to, AWS D1.1, D1.3, D1.5; ASME; ISO 9001:2015; NFPA 70; MIL-STD; AFMAN; and OSHA
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of engineering standards, work instructions (WIKI), and standard operating procedures (SOPs). 
  • Engage in hands-on prototype development and assembly to support new-product introduction and improvement. 
  • Stay current on technological advances through seminars, coursework, and independent research. 
  • Collaborate with customers and stakeholders on the technical aspects of their projects. 
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet all deadlines. 
  • Produce technical manuals and product guides as required. 
  • Partner with QC/QA to ensure compliance with standards and to develop acceptance test procedures (ATPs) for products. 

​​Qualifications and Education Requirements​ 

  • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or a closely related discipline). 
  • Minimum two (2) years of engineering design or related experience. 
  • Extensive proficiency with SOLIDWORKS, DraftSight/AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office. 
  • Experience with SOLIDWORKS PDM
  • Demonstrated strong mechanical, analytical, and technical problem-solving skills. 
  • Experience with structural design, pneumatic systems, and hydraulic systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to pass a background check for access to military installations and on-site surveys. 
  • Willingness to travel as required.
